Liner Notes
The fear, anguish and madness of war are things the world is going to have to live with from now on because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. But the hope, faith and peace of unity has helped to alleviate the hardships people from the Garden State have had to endure, especially for the New Jersey families who lost loved ones in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the hi-jacked aircrafts.
Children have not been able to sleep at night. Parents have feared losing their job due to the economic upheaval terrorism has left in its wicked wake. Others are sickened by the loss of their bright and promising friends. But that doesn’t compare to the nightmare day in, day out, minute by minute, that the families of lost heroes have had to endure since Sept. 11.
New Jersey’s rich and fertile music scene wants to do something to help. Just a little something to help alleviate the fear, anguish and madness with the healing, hopeful power of song Musicians, artists, producers, photographers, journalists, music businesses, media outlets and dozens of generous New Jerseyans have banded together for "Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares," a compilation of 15 music acts, all of whom wrote songs that relate to the attack of Sept. 11. Some did so specifically for this record, including Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bernie Worrell & the WOO Warriors with their funky anthem, "Thank Ya," a call to continue the unity that has proven to the world just how great our country can be, and "Understand" by Matt Angus Thing, featuring another Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Levon Helm of The Band, on a plea for reason in a world gone mad.
We all hope that you enjoy "Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares" and that it brings peace, bolsters unity, spreads hope and offers healing, especially to the families who lost loved ones on Sept. 11.  All profits from the disc and several concerts in support of it will go to the Jersey Jams Fund, a charity effort distributed by Bergen County’s United Way, one of the few non-profit organizations in the state making funds swiftly and directly available to all New Jersey families who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks. Some of the fund will be used to provide music scholarship to the children of those families. If you would like to make a donation to the Jersey Jams Fund, please send it to Tom Toronto, Chief Operating Officer, Bergen County’s United Way, 690 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ 07649.
