Bernie Worrell & the WOO Warriors are led by the former keyboardist, co-producer, songwriter and music director of the Plainfield-originated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame funk act Parliament-Funkadelic. The architect of the synth bassline used in funk and disco, Bernie's musical licks have influenced a generation of hip-hop stars, including Dr.Dre, Ice Cube, Salt 'n' Pepa, Snoop Doggy Dog, En Vogue, Digital Underground, Heavy D, and De La Soul. The funk genius toured with Talking Heads for four years and also has toured and recorded with The Pretenders, Bootsy Collins' Rubber Band and, most recently, as a member of "Black Jack Johnson" (the musicians with rapper Mos Def). Vocalist Jen Durkin is former lead singer of Deep Banana Blackout, keyboardist Gregg Fitz has gigged with Bootsy's Rubber Band and Quazar. Rounding out the lineup is longtime bassist of WOO, Donna McPherson; double-bass drum wizard Garry Sullivan (who also performs with the Cro Mags); and seven-string guitar maestro, The Flash!!! Bernie Worrell & the WOO Warriors specifically wrote "Thank Ya" for "Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares." The funky anthem celebrates the country's continued unity in the wake of 9/11. He got his start playing with Asbury Jukes guitarist Bobby Bandiera and The Hooters' Fran Smith in the Stone Pony house band Cats on a Smooth Surface. After releasing two solo albums on A&M, Glen formed Slaves of New Brunswick and joined the popular progressive rock band Styx, with whom he is still a member. Glen has co-penned such hits as "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" with and for Patty Smyth and "Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man," which was recorded by country great Randy Travis.
